Interview with Janine Jarman:Janine Jarman is a nationally renowned celebrity hair stylist and the founder of Hairroin Salon, the home of Hollywood's best-tressed. Born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA, Jarman has been “hair-obsessed” for as long as she can remember. At the age of 15 she teamed up with her best friend to offer hair and makeup services to her party-bound classmates. Jarman then moved on to beauty school, and after graduating, she immediately began shooting for the stars. Jarman steadily built a loyal client base until she was bit by the entrepreneurial bug in 2005. She purchased a failing salon and immediately re-branded and re-opened it as Hairroin Salon. Hairroin instantly became Tinseltown’s newest obsession, garnering Hollywood clientele including Florence Welch, Tommy Lee, Kylie Minogue, Danica Patrick, and Fergie. For many years Jarman was the key stylist and official hairdresser for the world’s most successful female pop group, The Pussycat Dolls. Jarman was the creator of their signature look, which led to work with celebrities such as Christina Applegate, Britney Spears, Lil’ Kim, and Carmen Electra. Interview with Erim Kaur:Erim Kaur is the founder of the hair and beard care brand ByErim and a beauty influencer. Erim’s career did not start in the haircare industry. Early in her professional life, Erim worked as a social media consultant for various companies. It wasn’t until she founded ByErim that her professional work with hair started. Erim lost her mother at just eight years old to cancer. This life experience and the absence of such a prominent figure in Erim’s life is what perpetuated her love for hair. Since then, Erim has looked at hair as a way of preserving the beauty and significance of her mother’s hair while holding family traditions close to her heart. Her mother was not the only female figure in her life who cared about hair. Erim’s journey began with her Dhadi or grandmother. She was a woman of tradition, with a treasure trove of magical remedies passed down through generations. Erim’s relationship with her grandmother is where she learned to create the formulas that would soon be used in her own hair products. Originally from Egypt, Nesrin moved to the US to attend makeup and fx school, determined to build a career in film and TV. Early on, she had the opportunity to assist several celebrity makeup artists before she transitioned into the indie film world, where she quickly learned how to handle everything from beauty and full glam makeup, to special effects. Working on independent films required a versatile approach and indie films is where Nesrin sharpened and honed her expertise. Seeking larger-scale opportunities, Nesrin made the leap and moved to Atlanta, where she landed her career-defining break on Season 5 of The Walking Dead. She quickly advanced and was offered the position of Key Makeup Artist for Season 6, then continued her career working on incredible projects such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. She then worked as a special effects makeup artist on Chicago P.D. where she spent four seasons mastering high- intensity, action-driven makeup effects, before becoming a department head in her own right.
